The Wapakoneta WaterPark set a new one-day attendance record for the month of June Tuesday.

A total of 1,546 people attended the water park that day, breaking the previous record of 1,329 for a single day in June.

“For the month of June, that’s a pretty good number,” Wapakoneta WaterPark Manager Jack Hayzlett said. “We normally don’t have those kind of days in June.”

Hayzlett attributed the spike in attendance to unseasonably warm weather for the first part of the month. He said there typically aren’t many 90 degree days in June, so it was not surprising that Tuesday’s high of 94 degrees brought more people to the water park.

“We generally average 1,300 people a day when it’s 90 degrees or above so it’s not like yesterday was abnormal, but for it to happen in June, that was abnormal,” Hayzlett said.
