For the second time within a week, Wapakoneta Redskins sophomore Charlie Sutton set a school record.
His second new record came Thursday in the 500-yard freestyle race, as Sutton’s time of 5 minutes, 3.35 seconds shattered the previous record of 5:08.49 set by Royce Kantner.
Sutton broke another Kantner record, the 200 free, on Saturday in Celina.
The new school record came during the Wapakoneta Redskins’ two wins Thursday in a high school boys swim meet against the St. Marys Roughriders and the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Wapak handled St. Marys, 60-33, and routed Coldwater, 67-21.
Wesley Ruedebusch won the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of 2 minutes, 0.85 seconds and the 100 breaststroke at 1:11.18.
Kaleb Miller claimed a win in the 50 free (24.97 seconds) and was second in the 100 free (56.50).
Sam Harrod was third behind Miller in the 50 free (26.70) and the 100 free (58.37).
Ryan Schneider (1:00.41) and Michael Zwez (1:04.36) posted the top two times in the 100 butterfly.
Schneider (1:03.26) and Zwez (1:03.65) were also first and second in the 100 backstroke.
The quartet of Ruedebusch, Miler, Harrod and Sutton grabbed the win in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.49.
Miller, Hayden Metzger, Ruedebusch and Sutton won the 400 free relay at 3:43.32.
Metzger was second in the 200 individual medley (2:20.28) and second behind Sutton’s school record in the 500 free (5:29.64).
Sutton (1:13.31) was second in the 100 breaststroke.
This was Wapak’s final meet before the Western Buckeye League Championships.
The Redskins will start the WBL meet at 3 p.m. Thursday with the diving competition and resume starting at 9 a.m. Friday with the swimming portion.
