A manufacturing company with Wapakoneta roots has moved back into the community and received a warm welcome from neighboring businesses Friday morning.
Business leaders from TSC, AIP Logistics, Apex and the Wapakoneta Daily News, all located on Industrial Drive, visited the new location for Rock Line Products, Inc., manufacturer of the Air-tow trailer. The location was previously owned by Sun Industrial Chemical, Inc.
Rock Line Owner Al Behr, who runs the company with his wife Dorothy and two sons, Albert and Arnie, said they have been manufacturing the Air-tow trailer for 15 years. The family moved from Wapakoneta to California, where the company originated 40 years ago.
“We started out manufacturing tree equipment — stump grinders, brush chippers,” Behr said.
After selling the company, Behr began manufacturing aerial work platforms, like cherry pickers, which he later sold.
Throughout this work manufacturing equipment in the rental industry, Behr said they saw a need to ease loading operations.
“One time we saw someone that had a real bad accident loading a piece of equipment on ramps,” Behr said, “so that’s when we decided there has got to be a better way, and that was kind of the beginning of this trailer.”
