From staff reports

The Wapakoneta Redskins and the St. Marys Roughriders will meet today for the second time this season in a dual match.

This time, however, the Auglaize County rivals will meet far from the county borders, as the two schools will travel to Toledo this afternoon to continue their participation in the state dual team tournament.

After tonight’s round of competition, the 24 state tournament participants will be determined.

The Redskins and the Roughriders will wrestle in a Division II, Region 9-B semifinal match at Central Catholic High School in Toledo starting at 5 p.m. today.

The other Region 9-B semifinal match will be wrestled simultaneously at CCHS between Central Catholic and Wauseon.

The winners of each semifinal will meet 20 minutes later in the regional championship.

The Region 9-B champion will advance to the state tournament, along with the 23 other regional champions from throughout Ohio.

The team state championships will be held Feb. 8 at St. John Arena at The Ohio State University in Columbus.

Wapakoneta beat St. Marys 49-25 in a Western Buckeye League dual match earlier this month.

Central Catholic High School is located at 2550 Cherry St., Toledo, Ohio 43608.

Tickets for today’s competition will cost $7 for the semifinal matches and $8 for the final match.
