October 16, 2013

From staff reports

The Wapakoneta Redskins retained the top spot in their region Tuesday as the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the weekly edition of the prep football computer ratings.

Wapakoneta (6-1) appeared first in Division III, Region 10, for the first time Oct. 8.

Wapakoneta is moving closer toward clinching a home playoff game this season.

The top eight teams in each region for Divisions II through VII will qualify for the playoffs, while the top 16 teams in Division I will make the playoffs.

The top four teams in each region for Divisions II through VII will host regional quarterfinal games at their home site. The top eight teams in Division I’s two regions will host regional quarterfinal games at their home site.

Along with the Redskins, other Western Buckeye League schools were listed in the top 12 of their respective regions in Tuesday’s ratings.

Kenton (7-0), the only team to beat Wapak this season, moved from second to third in Division IV, Region 12, in the ratings.

Celina (6-1) dropped from fifth to seventh in Division III, Region 10.

Defiance (4-3) and Elida (4-3) remained seventh and 11th, respectively, in Division III, Region 8.

Bellefontaine (3-4), the Redskins’ Week 1 non-league opponent, fell from 10th to 12th in Division III, Region 10.
