Six local businesses were recognized for their improvement throughout the past year during the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce 2014 Progress Awards breakfast on Thursday.

“It’s an easy way to recognize our members for the progress they’ve made — growth, sales — over the last year,” Wapakoneta Area Chamber Director Josh Hines said. “It’s for anybody that was in business last year that made capital investments, added more inventory or expanded their building, increased sales, added employees — about any type of growth.”

Each business who received the self-nominated award was recognized individually with a plaque.

“I think that it will help increase their customer base and give them some added recognition that their business is doing well and growing,” Hines said.

Hines said a couple of the businesses received recognition for the Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership’s Façade Improvement Program.
