The Wapakoneta Redskins did not appear in the final Associated Press poll of the season, which was released Monday.
The poll ranks the top 10 football teams in the state for each division and is voted upon by media members.
Wapakoneta (9-1) appeared twice in the Division III poll during the 2013 season, on Oct. 15 and 22, after receiving the minimum 12 points, although the team did not earn enough points either week to rank within the top 10.
The Redskins won eight straight games to finish the regular season and qualified for the playoffs.
Wapak, in a Division III, Region 10 quarterfinal Friday, will face the Springfield Shawnee Braves (9-1), who made multiple appearances in the poll this season, peaking at 12th in Division III, but did not appear in the final edition.
Kenton (10-0), the Western Buckeye League champion and the only team to beat Wapak this season, was the AP poll champion for Division IV in 2013 by ranking first.
Marion Local (10-0), the Midwest Athletic Conference champion and two-time defending Division VI state champion, claimed the AP poll title for Division VII.
Also from the MAC, Coldwater (8-2), the defending Division V state champion, ranked sixth in Division V.
Lehman Catholic (9-1), the Northwest Central Conference champion, finished ninth in Division VII.View more articles in:
