Wapakoneta grabs league win over Defiance

The Wapakoneta Redskins kept the Defiance Bulldogs winless this season with a 5-0 victory Tuesday in Western Buckeye League girls soccer action.

The win moved Wapak to 7-3-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the WBL.

Defiance dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Brittany Pequignot scored three of Wapak’s five goals Tuesday and assisted on the other two.

Claire Burton and Leah Schattschneider each scored once for the Redskins.

Brooke Schlenker replaced usual starter Mikayla Halfhill in goal Tuesday and came through with a shut out and one save.

Wapak outshot Defiance 12-1 on Tuesday.

Wapak will host the Allen East Mustangs at 7 p.m. Thursday for its next match.
