From staff reports
Wapakoneta Redskins freshman Josee Kaeck put together her best average of the season Saturday and it advanced her to districts.
The Redskins as team, however, were 19 pins shy of qualifying for districts, as they finished fifth Saturday at their sectional tournament needing a top-four effort to advance in the state tournament.
The Redskins totaled 2,971 pins after three games and six Baker matches Saturday in a Division I sectional tournament at Star Lanes at the Harbor in Port Clinton.
Kaeck had a 479 series on Saturday with games of 153, 162 and 164, exceeding her season average of 141.2 in all three.
Britni Hosterman was Wapak’s second-best bowler Saturday with a 174-142-120 series (436).
Kierstyn Neumeier added two games of 151 and 129 for the Redskins.
Kylie Timmerman (134-125) and Shelby Timmerman (112-142) each rolled two games for Wapak.
Kelsey Pothast (116) bowled the Redskins’ first game Saturday.
Wapak won the sixth and final Baker match by 23 pins Saturday but its effort was too little too late.
Kaeck will compete in the Division I district tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lex Lanes in Lexington.
She will need to finish as the top individual in order to qualify for the state tournament.View more articles in:
