Wapak woman hurt in crash
Two drivers received minor injuries after a driver failed to yield to a semi-tractor trailer, which knocked into power lines at the intersection of Buckland-Holden Road and state Route 65 on Friday afternoon in Uniopolis.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded after receiving a call at 11:40 a.m. in regard to the crash.
According to state trooper Steven Posada, driver Eileen Reinhart, 93, of Wapakoneta, was traveling eastbound on Buckland-Holden Road in a Mercury Grand Marquis and failed to yield at a stop sign.
Semi-truck driver William Dowdy, 46, of Lewistown, was traveling southbound on state Route 65. After attempting to stop, he struck the left rear of Reinhart’s car, knocking her off roadway. Dowdy continued and crashed into a power pole, jackknifing off the roadway.
Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries. Reinhart was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center, and Dowdy was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital.
Uniopolis and Cridersville fire departments and EMS were called to assist on the scene of the accident.
