May 24, 2012

Wapakoneta Redskin junior pitcher Johnny Crawford pitched the Redskins to a 7-1 victory in the regional semifinals. They play again at 5 p.m. Friday.

From staff reports

TIFFIN — One streak ended, but another streak continues.

Wapakoneta Redskin junior pitcher Johnny Crawford watched his consecutive scoreless streak end when he surrendered his first run in 45 innings when the Padua Franciscan Bruins scored in the bottom of the second inning, but the Redskins continued their winning streak in the state playoffs with a 7-1 win.

The Redskins scored twice in the top of the first inning and scored another pair in the top of the second inning. Redskin junior Andrew Hines hit a two-run homer in the top of the third as the Redskins scored three in that half of an inning to take a 7-1 lead.

Crawford pitched the rest of the way for a complete game win.

The Redskins now play Friday against either the No. 1 ranked Defiance Bulldogs or the No. 8 Jonathan Alder, who play today at 5 p.m.
