Wapak native trooper of the year

March 7, 2014

A Wapakoneta native was awarded the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s 2013 “Trooper of the Year” in the annual state-wide leadership awards.

Trooper Christian “C.J.” Niemeyer, of the Columbus Metro Post, was selected from eight district troopers of the year.

“It’s pretty humbling,” Niemeyer said. “I’ve been with the highway patrol for a little over seven years now and last year and this year I was voted as trooper of the year at this post. It’s nice to know that your peers and supervisor see all your hard work.”

Niemeyer attributed his success to the support he received from his supervision and his wife. He said he also took advantage of the opportunity of working in a large city.
