Wapak blanks Celina to remain unbeaten in WBL

The Wapakoneta Redskins remained unbeaten in Western Buckeye League play Tuesday with a 5-0 win in Celina over the Celina Bulldogs, who entered the match with a 3-0 league record, in varsity girls tennis action.

With the win, Wapak moved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the WBL.

Tuesday’s shutout was Wapak’s fourth straight in match play.

Only the first singles match lasted more than two sets, as Kaitlin Snider beat Kalie Gardner, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.

Allie Zofkie blanked Sasha Jenkins, 6-0, 6-0, in second singles, while Rachel Roberts topped Brooke Sutter, 6-2, 6-0, in third singles.

Kiersten Wellons and Chelsea Myers combined to win 6-3, 6-2, over Sabrina Smith and Leah Zuercher in the first doubles match. With scores of 6-2, 6-2, Carly Buzzard and Amanda Sims defeated Maddy Cline and Nicole Elston at second doubles.
