'Skins get shot at title CONVOY – The Wapakoneta Junior ACME team will play for a sectional title on Thursday after cruising to victories in the first two rounds.
On Sunday, the Redskins earned a 6-1 win over Minster and advanced to play the host school in Crestview. With the crowd against them on Monday night, Wapak defeated Crestview 12-7 to advance to the sectional championship game. The victory also locked up a spot in the Wapakoneta District Four Junior ACME Tournament. Claiming victories on the mound for the ‘Skins in the two games were Josh Vorhees and Dustin Gerlach. Wapakoneta (19-4) will play at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday against the Crestview/Van Wert winner. If Wapak loses, it plays a second game at 7 p.m. The district tournament starts Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at Wapakoneta High School. |
