Library budget cut
By ANDREA POTEET
Staff Writer
The declining economy is bringing more people into the Wapakoneta branch of the Auglaize Public District Library, the library’s director says, but the recession also is resulting in district-wide cuts.
The ACDPL recently announced a budget cut caused by a 10 percent decline in state funding, down to $1.09 million in 2009 from  $1.22 million in 2008. The funding provides operating expenses for all six of the district libraries and the bookmobile.
“We had to look at what’s coming down the road,” Director M. Jo Derryberry said. “We’re tied to the state budget and because of what is happening with the economy, we have to reduce our budget and are doing a 10 percent cut.”
