Wapak boys, girls runners-up

(Staff photo/ Joshua Keeran) By JOSHUA KEERAN Sports Editor The Wapakoneta varsity boys and girls track teams placed second on Tuesday in a tri-meet at Harmon Field. On the boys side, Napoleon cruised to victory with 93 points. Wapakoneta placed second with 63 points and Lima Senior finished last with 19 points.
The Redskins finished the meet with three first-place finishers. They were Kenneth Long in the 110-meter hurdles (16.2); Brad Wurster in the 300 hurdles (43.1) and the 800 relay team (1:36.5). Earning second place for Wapakoneta was Jason Bartlett in the long jump (18-feet-9); Kyle McClintock in the high jump (5-feet-10) and 200 dash (23.6); Dylon Webb in the 1,600 run (4:57.0); the 3,200 relay team (9:03.6); the 400 relay team (45.2); Kevin Bittinger in the 3,200 run (10:26.4); Wurster in the 110 hurdles (16.6) and Long in the 300 hurdles (43.2). On the girls side, Napoleon’s 80 points was just enough to edge Wapakoneta (73.5). The Spartans finished last with 21.5 points. Claiming first for Wapakoneta was Emily Steveley in the high jump (4-feet-10); Hannah Tabler in the pole vault (11-feet); Dominique Craft in the 400 dash (1:03.6); Kailey Schneider in the 200 dash (29.0); Kaylee Fisher in the 3,200 run (12:20.3); the 3,200 relay team (10:27.8); the 400 relay team (54.8) and the 1,600 relay team (4:21.4). Placing second for the Redskins were Chelsea Lucas in the pole vault (10-feet); Schneider in the 100 dash (13.7); Kaitlin Blackburn in the 1,600 run (6:05.6); Amy Snider in the 800 run (2:42.9); Elizabeth Davenport in the 200 dash (30.0); Tabler in the 100 hurdles (16.3), the long jump (16-feet-7) and the 300 hurdles (50.5). |
