Clarence J. Meyer Jr., 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Akron, the son of Clarence J. & Louella Meyer Sr., who preceded him in death.  On Nov. 24, 1945, he married Norma J. Clapper, and she died Sept. 19, 1971.  Then on June 15, 1974, he married Martha M. Ell, and she survives.
Other survivors include  two daughters, Barbara (Charles) Slattery, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Melanie Meyer, of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, John (Joyce) Meyer, St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Charles W. Meyer, of Bryan, Texas; five grandchildren, Chad, Jason, Jordan, Maggie, and Katie; and three  great grandchildren, Cayden, Camden, and Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Margaret Metzger.
Mr. Meyer retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, St. Marys.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during W.W.II in the European Theatre.  He was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, St. Marys. He enjoyed fishing.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday March 26, 2008, at  St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Henry Albietz officiating.  Burial is to follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta.  
Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
