'Skins' Sickles, Kenter place first at Celina Invitational

CELINA — The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls track team finished fourth at a six-team invitational Tuesday.

The Redskins scored 82.3 points. Ottawa-Glandorf won the event with 137.3 points, followed by Celina in second with 118 and Defiance in third with 111. Elida finished fifth with 53.3 points and Bath was sixth with 10 points.
Taking first for Wapakoneta were Diana Sickles in the discus (101-feet-5) and Lindsey Kentner in the 800-meter run (2:27.25).
Finishing second was the 3,200 relay team of Kentner, Brittany Duff, Megan Kremer and Kendra Short with a time of 10:16.25. Also taking second was the 400 relay team of Sophie Schneider, Nicole Bordner, Carly Kuehl and Kirstie Valenti with a time of 53.04.
Placing third was Kuehl in the 100 hurdles (16.85) and the 1,600 relay team of Sophie Schneider, Kentner, Duff and Emily Steveley with a time of 4:21.33.
Ending in fourth place was Hannah Tabler in the long jump (14-feet-9.75) 300 hurdles (50.37) and the pole vault (8-feet-6), while Valenti was fourth in the 100 dash (13.76).
The 800 relay team of Bordner, Kailey Schneider, Sophie Schneider and Kentner finished fourth with a time of 1:55.67.
Coming in fifth were Sickles in the high jump (4-feet-6), Chelsea Lucas in the pole vault (8-feet), Kuehl in the 300 hurdles (51.23) and Megan Kremer in the 800 run (2:39.86).
Rounding out in sixth place were Steveley in the high jump (4-feet-4), Erica Dunnigan in the 100 hurdles (17.78), Bordner in the 100 dash (14.05) and Duff in the 1,600 run (6:00.09).
The track team returns to action at 4:30 p.m. today when they travel to the Bath Invitational.
