Ruedebusch, Fahncke, Prater take 2nd in swim By BRYAN CRAFT Sports Editor LIMA — The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity swim teams competed at the Western Buckeye League meet Saturday at the Lima YMCA, placing fifth as the boys team and sixth as the girls team. Celina won the boys side with 272 points, followed by Shawnee in second with 235 points and Van Wert in third with 198 points. Shawnee took the girls meet with 322.5 points, followed by Celina in second with 288 and Ottawa-Glandorf in third with 189.
Wapakoneta’s Chelsea Lucas placed in a tie for first in the diving competition with 326.80 points, Ashley Beeny was seventh with 259.25 points and Sophie Schneider finished 16th with 65.50 points. Placing second for Wapakoneta were Madison Ruedebusch in the 200 individual medley (2:23.05), Seth Fahncke in the 100 freestyle (53.85) and Brady Prater in the 200 individual medley (2:16.35) Taking third place for the Redskins were Fahncke in the 200 freestyle (1:58.81), Kevin Knight in the 100 butterfly (1:03.27), while Shane Slechter was fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:55.71) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:07.54). The 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams of Brett Latham, Mike Miller, Brady Prater and Fahncke finished third with times of 1:39.37 and 3:43.41, respectively. Ruedeubsch was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.76), Knight took eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:08.61) and Matt Lawrence was ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.69). The 200 freestyle and medley relay teams of Ruedebusch, Karli Krock, Breanna Borgert and Kelsey Borgert placed fifth in a time of 1:52.96 and sixth in a time of 2:06.54, respectively. The 200 medley relay team of Slechter, Lawrence, Knight and Clayton Kantner finished sixth with a time of 1:59.15. The 400 freestyle relay team of Kayla Prater, Megan Scott, Katie Krock and Alexis Salsbury took seventh with a time of 4:27.71. Lawrence was seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:32.61), Miller finished 10th in the 100 butterfly (1:10.78) and 15th in the 100 freestyle (59.61), Brett Latham took 14th in the 100 freestyle (58.97), while Clayton Kantner took 13th in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.78) and 15th in the 50 freestyle (26.92). Kelsey Borgert was 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.59) and Katie Krock was 21st in the same event with a time of 1:24.76, while Shelby Fisher finished 26th in a time of 1:30.05. Breanna Borgert placed 11th in the 200 individual medley (2:38.80) and 13th in the 100 butterfly (1:13.73), Kaysi Lyall was 16th in the 500 freestyle (6:46.04), Kaitlyn Kantner took 22nd in the 100 butterfly (1:26.40) and Katie Krock placed 23rd in the 100 butterfly (1:28.28). In the 50 freestyle, Kelsey Borgert finished 12th with a time of 28.51, Karli Krock placed 18th (29.46), Alyssa Stiger ended 25th (31.18) and Shelby Fisher was 31st (32.72). Taking 12th in the 100 backstroke was Kayla Prater with a time of 1:17.24, Megan Scott finished 14th (1:17.90), Kaysi Lyall took 16th (1:18.35) and Hillary Kinstle was 20th (1:21.30). Salsbury finished 12th in the 100 freestyle (1:05.69) and took 14th in the 200 freestyle (2:25.46). Karli Krock placed 14th in the 100 freestyle (1:06.04), Kayla Prater was 16th (1:07.41) and Megan Scott was 18th (1:08.76). Others placing in the 200 freestyle were Kaitlyn Kantner, who finished 24th in a time of 2:43.29, Amber Valenti took 26th with a time of 2:44.90 and Hillary Kinstle finished 29th with a time of 2:50.11.
