For 45 minutes, the roar of motorcycles could be heard passing under an American flag hanging from two ladder trucks. For 45 minutes, area residents gathered in the shadow of the Auglaize County Courthouse and Wapakoneta Fire Station waved and clapped as motorcyclists rode by.
The smiles and waves turned into clapping and cheers as the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall passed down Willipie Street on its way to Custenborder Field in Sidney where it was greeted by a field of American flags.

Kent Boyd may have found his new home — and it’s a little different than Wapakoneta or Botkins.
“Kent, you were born to do this,” Fox reality show judge Adam Shankman said during Wednesday airing of “So You Think You Can Dance.”
“This” is dancing Broadway. And the fans agree.

He is a member of the dance show’s final four. There are two more shows, with the Aug. 12 episode declaring the winner.
Joining Boyd are Adechike Tolbert, Lauren Froderman and Robert Roldan for next Wednesday’s show. Froderman survived Thursday being in the bottom three. The judges eliminated Billy Bell and Jose Ruiz.
On Thursday, Boyd was the first to receive the news he was safe from host Cat Deeley. Ruiz received the bad news.
After performing three times Wednesday evening, including a second shot at the cha cha and broadway dancing, fans voted Boyd through to be one of the top four dancers on “So You Think You Can Dance.”
While the judges gave positive remarks following each of Boyd’s performances Wednesday, they particularly liked his broadway routine from “Kiss Me Kate.”
While Boyd is a self-described contemporary dancer, the judges see a different future for him.
“You just found your home,” judge Mia Michaels said following the routine.
Michaels was referring to the busy life of the Big Apple, Broadway in New York City.
“You need to live in that world, because everything about it fits you like a glove,” Michaels said. “You can even make your faces.”
Shankman said he believes the competition will come down to the Wapakoneta native and fellow dancer Lauren Froderman.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I see it coming down to the two of you,” Shankman said.
It was announced in the final  minutes of Wednesday’s program, though, that Froderman injured herself during the live broadcast and was with medics.
Show producer Nigel Lythgoe has told the 2010 Botkins High School graduate he is the one to beat, and complimented his skills once again Wednesday evening.
“I don’t think there is anything we’ve thrown at Kent this season that he hasn’t done brilliantly,” Lythgoe said.
It seems if the voting were up to the girls of America, Boyd would definitely secure the top spot.
“It’s ridiculous,” fellow dancer Jose Ruiz said. “He could just look this way and all the girls scream.”
During his first routine of the evening, a cha cha number with All-Star Anja Garnis, Boyd had to stage kiss his dance partner and a girl in the audience.
Kissing women is a move Boyd has been required to practice repeatedly throughout this season’s choreography.
“Kissing comes easy,” Boyd said during practice for his cha cha routine. “Especially when you have Anja as a partner, ya know.”
With the two dancers eliminated from the competition Thursday, Boyd will dance with three other competitors for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer.
The show airs again at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox.
