By KAREN CAMPBELL Assistant Managing Editor Two Wapakoneta men were arrested Monday night in connection with an armed robbery at the Clark service station. The gasoline station at 302 Willipie St. was held up at gun point by a lone male wearing a ski mask, according to a release from the Wapakoneta Police Department. The robbery was thought to be a gang-related crime, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said this morning. He confirmed no one at Clark at the time of the robbery suffered any injuries.
According to a report at 9:15 p.m. Monday one male entered the station and demanded cash from the register from the employee. The male fled on foot. The clerk complied with the demands of the robber and upon getting the cash, the robber ran east out of the station. “During the course of the investigation, officers were able to track the would-be robber from the Clark gas station to a residence here in Wapakoneta,” Hunlock said. Officers from the Wapakoneta Police Department and the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team later made entry into the residence where the robber was tracked. Upon making entry, the SRT located a male hiding in the attic with evidence of the robbery in his possession. Jacob Burton, 18, of Wapakoneta, was arrested on multiple warrants as well as for the armed robbery. Through additional investigation, another male was arrested at another location outside of the city for the robbery of the Clark gasoline station. Chrisopher B. Geer, also known as “Lil Chris,” 22, of Wapakoneta, was arrested in connection with the robbery. A female that officers spoke with at the residence during the investigation also was arrested. Rebecca L. McPheron, 21, of Wapakoneta, was arrested but on unrelated charges. Hunlock said additional arrests and charges may be made as the prosecutors with the Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office reviews reports of the incident.
