For 45 minutes, the roar of motorcycles could be heard passing under an American flag hanging from two ladder trucks. For 45 minutes, area residents gathered in the shadow of the Auglaize County Courthouse and Wapakoneta Fire Station waved and clapped as motorcyclists rode by.
The smiles and waves turned into clapping and cheers as the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall passed down Willipie Street on its way to Custenborder Field in Sidney where it was greeted by a field of American flags.

Man pleads before court

A Wapakoneta man has asserted his innocence after being charged with a multi-count sex crime indictment.
In an arraignment hearing held Tuesday at the Auglaize County Common Pleas Court,  Charles L. Seitz, 58, 814 Murray St., pleaded innocent to four counts of gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies.

Seitz was indicted on the counts on Dec. 15 and three days later was ordered to be held on a $50,000 recognizance bond with a 10 percent cash provision.During the arraignment, Common Pleas Judge Frederick Pepple ordered the bond to be continued.
Seitz was found to be indigent and Auglaize County Public Defender Mark Weller was appointed as legal counsel.
The counts stem from an alleged June 1, 2008 offense. A pre-trial has been scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Jan. 7.
If convicted, Seitz faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $40,000 fine. He also would have to register as a sex offender.
