For 45 minutes, the roar of motorcycles could be heard passing under an American flag hanging from two ladder trucks. For 45 minutes, area residents gathered in the shadow of the Auglaize County Courthouse and Wapakoneta Fire Station waved and clapped as motorcyclists rode by.
The smiles and waves turned into clapping and cheers as the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall passed down Willipie Street on its way to Custenborder Field in Sidney where it was greeted by a field of American flags.

Man survives deer collision
Thursday, 18 June 2009
By KAREN CAMPBELL
Assistant Managing Editor
A Harrod man remained in fair condition Wednesday after crashing his motorcycle into a deer on Interstate 75 early Tuesday morning.
Danny Williams, 55, was driving a Harley Electraglide south on I-75 near mile marker 113 in Duchouquet Township when he hit the deer that entered the road from the west, according to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Williams lost control of the motorcycle and laid it down. He was ejected.
The bike came to rest in the median. It sustained severe damage.
Williams was transported by Wapakoneta Rescue Squad to Lima Memorial Hospital, where a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday afternoon he was in fair condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Wapakoneta safety services also responded.
He was driving approximately 60 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.
