Wapakoneta senior Kyle Maus blew away the competition on Tuesday as the Redskins snuck past Botkins in non-league action at the Wapakoneta Country Club.
Maus’ 37 was easily the best score of the match as he helped guide the Redskins to a 169-175 victory over the Trojans. “We played good enough to win, but we need to play a lot better if we want to compete in the WBL tournament this Friday and the sectional tournament on Oct. 3,” Wapakoneta varsity coach Kenny Wayman said. “I know we can if only we stay away from the big numbers. Again tonight, we had doubles and triples that really hurts our team score and individual scores.” Also for Wapakoneta, Brian Henkener shot a 43, Tyler Sosby had a 44, Phil Gabel fired a 45, Nick Caspar had a 46 and Kyle West shot a 54. Leading the way for Botkins was Tyler Dietz, who shot a 41. Also for the Trojans, Eric Ambos carded a 44, Trey Bauer shot a 45, Graham Counts had a 45 and Marcus Counts was disqualified. |
