Attention car lovers, veterans and community members — the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445 is hosting its “Veterans Helping Veterans Auto Show” on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the VFW, 712 North Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta.
Interested participants can register their automobiles for a $10 fee from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, rain or shine. Any make, model or year of a vehicle is welcome to participate, including cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. to the top 25 vehicles, “Commander’s Choice,” “Car Club,” and “Best of Show.” Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 100 participants.
VFW campaign manager Wanda Link said this is the second occurrence of the auto show, which brought a total of 98 vehicles to the VFW last year. However, the event brought out more than fancy cars, as Link said the community showed great support.
“We had hundreds of people going through last year, just looking at the cars and so forth,” Link said.
The event was held last year to replace the car show at Glacier Hills. It was also designed as a fundraiser for the VFW Honor Guard and local veterans, Link said.
