Velma Geyer, 91

Velma C. Mayer Geyer, 91, of Lima, died 12:40 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011, at the Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Shawnee Township, Allen County, to Merlie (Thompson) and Franklin Hinkle. On Feb. 18, 1941, she married Wilbur Virgil “Toot” Mayer who died Sept. 18, 1982. On April 8, 1994, she married Kelcey Phillip Geyer and he also preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1995.
Surviving are five sons, James E. (Vicki) Mayer, of Lima, George (Anne) Geyer, of Virginia Beach, Va., Roger Geyer, of Iraq, Rick (Cindy) Geyer, of Botkins, Scott Sollmann of Boca Raton, Fla.; two daughters, Jeannie (Roger) Fishbach, of Raleigh, N.C., and Anita (Rick) Ambos, of Botkins; 18 grandchildren: Staff Sgt. Christopher (Lori) Couchot, Jennifer Couchot, Ann Frederikson, Adam and Seth Geyer, Leah Reyes, Kane and Rory Geyer, Brandie Sweany, Dana Geyer, Hannah and Heath Geyer, April Mitchell, Kelly Steinke, Renee Ambos, Douglas Mayer, Kjarista (Kirk) Busch, Jeffrey (Chanda) Mayer; and 24 great grandchildren, Delaney and Abigail Chewning, Aiden, Gavin and Trevor Couchot, Vyette, Jordyn and Marisa Mayer, Kolier Busch, Jacob, Alannah and Berend Mayer, Amanda and Macy Frederikson, Noah and Jacob Geyer, Henry, Caleb and Isaac Reyes, Kellen and Lainie Geyer, Mary and Theron Geyer, Winsloh Sweany; a sister, Agnes Golden, of Cridersville; and a brother-in-law Charles Delong, of Cridersville.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and had worked at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen II until the age of 89. She had been a Stephens Minister and a member of Kindred Clowns.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Don (Karen) Hinkle, Clyde Hinkle; and two sisters: Ruby Watterson Delong and Beulah Putt.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James C. Couser officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville.
