Vehicle plunges into feeder

A driver was transported to the hospital after driving off an embankment near Greenville Road and rolling his vehicle into the Miami and Erie Canal Feeder at 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, July 13 in St. Marys.

Andrew Brogan, 23, of St. Marys, sustained possible injuries and was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital by St. Marys EMS. 

According to the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office report, Brogan was traveling eastbound on Greenville Road near Tri Township Road when he left the south side of the road, re-entered the roadway and exited the north side of the roadway. 

He spun around facing west, hitting the downward embankment of the canal before the vehicle overturned into the water, coming to rest in an upright position in the middle of the canal. Brogan was later located when he returned to the crash site. 

Brogan is suspected to have been using alcohol. He was cited with failure to control. 

No further information was available. The accident remains under investigation.
