A member of the University of Northwest Ohio (UNOH) Motorsport team is scheduled to be the featured speaker at a special Race Car Day breakfast during the Children’s Hometown Holiday at the beginning of December.
Kody Weisner, who worked on NASCAR race car driver Kenny Wallace’s pit crew, is expected to talk to the children at the breakfast for approximately 10 minutes on the importance of team work. The breakfast is to be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Swaney’s car dealership in downtown Wapakoneta. Pre-registration is needed today and Thursday by calling 419-738-8301.
“Weisner and his crew will be available to pose with the children and his car and will be available to answer questions about racing,” Children’s Hometown Holiday Chair Elaine Poppe said. “Weisner is to be a Swaney’s after the breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 1p.m. in order that all local racing fans can meet them and take pictures with them and the race car which will be provided by UNOH.”
Weisner received the first-ever win in one of the UNOH stock cars on Memorial Day 2010 when he captured the the first Thunderstock A-Main in the history of UNOH. He also received the win in the modified class in 2011.
Weisner, who also piloted the No. 20, the UNOH Modified, at the UMP Nationals in Eldora as well, is working toward his Associate’s Degree in Science with an emphasis on High Performance Motorsports at UNOH.
Paul Higgins, who is the department chair in the College of Applied Technologies Automotive and High Performance, also plans to be on hand during the day to answer questions about UNOHN and the opportunities at the college for those interested in learning more about the program.
