Trojans beat Panthers, advance in tournament

The Botkins Trojans advanced in the postseason Monday with a win in four games over the Twin Valley South Panthers in a Division IV Southwest District volleyball sectional semifinal at Tippecanoe High School in Tipp City.

Botkins’ win Monday came after scores of 25-21, 25-11, 11-25 and 26-24.

Sami Vehorn had 15 kills Monday for the Trojans.

Botkins’ Denise Schwartz had 14 digs and nine kills.

Jocelyn Counts had 23 assists and three aces.

Botkins will face the No. 2 seed in Division IV, Region 16, the Springfield Catholic Central Irish, in a sectional championship at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Catholic Central was ranked eighth in Division IV in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll released Monday.
