TRACK: Bailey signs with WSU

June 11, 2012

BOTKINS — Botkins cross country and track standout, Brittany Bailey, has signed a letter of intent to attend Wright State University in the fall.

Bailey will compete on both the cross country and track teams at Wright State.

She is coming off a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run at the Division II state track and field meet.

“Brittany has spent four  years working hard to become one of this area’s best runners,” Botkins coach Ryan Gutman said.  “She is really looking forward to this opportunity.”

Bailey leaves Botkins on several all-time cross country lists.   She is the No. 9 fastest freshman, No. 4 fastest junior, No. 5 fastest senior and No. 7 on Botkins top 15 all-time list.  An injury during her sophomore year kept her from making that list as well.

She has also left her mark on the track program.  She is a two time academic all-Ohioan, two-time state qualifier (1,600 and 800), one-time all-Ohioan, four-time team MVP, two-time Shelby County League champion (1,600 and 400), seven-time second- or first-team all-league, nine-time regional qualifier, and is the record holder in the 800 at the Anna Rocket Invitational.
