March 2, 2012

A PDS tornado watch has been issued for most of Auglaize and Shelby County until 9 p.m. tonight.
Weather maps showed a particularly strong area of storms in the area of Indianapolis at about 3 p.m. that were causing several tornado warnings in that area.
Auglaize County EMA Director Troy Anderson said a severe thunderstorm warning is likely to be issued for the area soon. The weather forecast includes strong thunderstorms during the evening that will give way to partly cloudy skies after midnight. Damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a tornado with some of the storms are possible. A wind advisory is also in effect for the area beginning at 6 p.m. until 4 a.m. Saturday morning. High and possibly damaging winds were possible into the early morning hours.
At 5:30 p.m. several tornadoes were in progress in Kentucky, Alabama Tennessee and Southern Ohio
The best chance for thunderstorms to reach our area appeared to be around 7 p.m.
