Tom Christian Schnell, 79

Tom Christian Schnell, of Fort Worth, Texas, much loved husband, father and grandfather (Opa), took Jesus' hand April 2, 2014. He was 79 years old.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Lighthouse Fellowship. Visitation was Sunday, April 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Lighthouse Fellowship. Inurnment took place at 3:15 p.m at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane B.

Mr. Schnell was born in Wapakoneta on March 12, 1935, to Bob and Deloris Schnell. After graduating from Ohio State University, he joined the Air Force and served for 20 years, achieving the rank of Lt. Col. After retirement, he worked for 10 years with General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin.

He was married to his devoted wife, Joy Lynn, for 55 years, and they raised one son, Thomas Robert, and three daughters, Kimberly, Cheri and Jeanette.

Family and friends were inspired by Mr. Schnell's calm, unflappable demeanor, strong work ethic, love for his country, and sly sense of humor. He remained a strong supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Go Bucks!
Survivors include his loving wife, Joy Lynn, four children and their spouses, six grandchildren, a brother Ted and wife, nephew, niece, two grand-nieces and two grand-nephews.
