Tom Cartmell, 92

Tom T. Cartmell, 92, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Wapakoneta, the son of Druzella (Taylor) and Don S. Cartmell, who preceded him in death. On June 1, 1948, he married Mae Sheipline, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are a daughter, Vicky Cartmell, of Wapakoneta; a brother-in-law, Carl Sheipline, of California; and several nieces and nephews, Sandra Orr, of Mackinac Island, Mich., Debra Orr, of Mackinac Island, Mich., Marsha Orr, of Australia, Nancy O’Dell of Arizona, Mark Temple, of California, Sandra Temple, of California, Felicia Temple, of California, Sean Temple of California, Robert Sheipline, of California, and Ingrid Sheipline, of California.
Tom was a 1939 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy on the Ranger Aircraft Carrier for three years in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. Tom then got into the television business in 1948 when he sold his first television to the V.F.W. in Wapakoneta. He was also a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post 8445.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, with the Revs. R.J. Davis and Wayne Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, where military rites will be performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta.
