Tigers fall to Indian Lake, 175-230

Waynesfield-Goshen continued to show consistent improvement Monday, but it wasn’t enough as the team suffered a 175-230 setback to Indian Lake in varsity girls golf action at the Cherokee Hills Country Club in Bellefontaine.

The Tigers’ score was the fourth time they set a school record in five outings this year, besting their previous mark of 230. However, Indian Lake also shattered a school record with its score.

“We are getting better, and that’s what we need to do,” said W-G head coach Gary Spencer. “It’s all we can ask for.”

This is the first season of varsity girls golf at the school.

Chelsea Spencer was the top W-G scorer, shooting a 52 for nine holes.

Kennedy Rumer shot a 55, Kiersten Wilcox shot a 61, and Elva Ann Shephard shot a 62. Morgan Barnett and Kylie Spiecher had low scores for Indian Lake as they each shot a 38.

W-G is now 2-2 on the year.

The team will play again at home at 5 p.m. Friday against Fort Recovery.
