Thefts hit Wapak businesses

Three thefts — two at Bellefontaine Street businesses and one on Lima Street — were reported last week.
Gretchen Hager, who works for Radio Shack, reported to Wapakoneta Police Department officers the theft of a PlayStation game controller valued at $29.99 from the business. The theft occurred between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the store located at 1252 Bellefontaine St.
The theft would be a first-degree misdemeanor.
Two suspects are believed to be involved in the theft.
Bethany Cunningham, an employee at Rent-a-Center, reported the theft of a 37-inch flat screen television from the store to officers that same evening. The theft occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from the store located at 1270 Bellefontaine St. The flat screen television is valued at $565.95.
The suspects from the Radio Shack theft are believed to be suspects in this case.
Earlier on Wednesday, police officers responded to Beer and Wine Depot,
804 Lima St., on a report of a theft and breaking and entering of the carry-out and restaurant.
Bradley Sanders, a co-owner of Beer and Wine Depot, reported the event at 7:13 a.m. Wednesday. The theft occurred at 1:10 a.m.
The suspects stole several cartons of cigarettes and cash.

• Randall Piper, 53, of Celina, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday south on Gynwood New Knoxville Road when his vehicle struck and killed a deer crossing the roadway. He was driving 50 mph in a 55 mph zone at the time of the Washington Township crash.
• John M. Dues, 64, of Celina, was driving a 2001 Dodge Neon at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday south on State Route 364, when his vehicle struck a deer that ran into the path of his and the car. He was driving 50 mph in a 55 mph zone at the time of the Jackson Township crash.
