TENNIS: Wapak blanks Defiance

The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys tennis team continued its winning ways, rolling to a 5-0 win over the Defiance Bulldogs in a Western Buckeye League match Friday at Wapakoneta High School.

With the win, Wapak improved to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the WBL.  Defiance fell to 2-8 and 1-5.

In first singles, senior Nic Oen bested junior Michael Sanchez 6-4, 6-0.

Senior Joey Jose won in second singles, topping junior Austin Fishpaw 6-0, 6-3.

Senior Andy Faller beat sophomore Nolan Parsons 6-1, 6-1 in third singles.

In first doubles, seniors Rex Azbell and Anthony Kennard defeated sophomore Evan Bates and freshman Drake Moening 6-2, 6-0.

And seniors David Gerstner and Josh Moots teamed up to shut out junior Sun Kyn Han and sophomore Nathan Gray 6-0, 6-0.

The Redskins will be back in action today at the Elida Invitational tournament.
