TENNIS: 'Skins improve to 2-0

SIDNEY — The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls tennis team picked up its second win in as many matches with a 4-1 win over the Sidney Yellow Jackets on Thursday in Sidney.
In first singles, Wapak senior Makenzie Klock rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Kassi Edwards.
Redskins senior Shelby Gillespie topped Monica Kislig 7-6, 6-3 in second singles.
Junior Annie Harrod rounded out a sweep of the singles matches for Wapak with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Katie Salyers.
The Redskins also won in first doubles as junior Katie Martin and freshman Kirsten Wellons pulled out a 6-4, 6-2 win.
Sidney’s lone win came in second doubles as Corri Fogt and Taclyn Corrington narrowly edged junior Chloe Veit and sophomore Rachel Roberts 1-6, 7-6, 7-5.
Wapak is now 2-0 on the season. The Redskins return to action today at 4 at Lima Senior.
