TENNIS: Shawnee snaps Wapak unbeaten streak

Western Buckeye League favorite Shawnee handed the Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls tennis team its first loss of the season with a 5-0 sweep in a WBL match at the Harmon Park courts.
The Indians won four of the five matches in two sets.
Wapak’s second doubles team of Chloe Veit and Rachel Roberts forced a third set against Maryan Adewami and Jordan Ward. After dropping the first 6-0, Veit and Roberts responded with a 7-5 win in the second set. But the Shawnee duo edged them 7-5 in the third.
Shawnee’s Lauren Rouner topped Makenzie Klock 6-1, 6-1 in first singles.
In second singles, Nora Shaheen defeated Shelby Gillespie 6-0, 6-2.
Isabelle Baird made it an Indians sweep in the singles match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Annie Harrod in third singles.
The first doubles match went to Lindsay McKinley and Anita Kottapolli over Katie Martin and Kierstin Wellons.
Wapak fell to 5-1 on the season. The Redskins return to action against the Bluffton Pirates on Wednesday at home.
