LIMA — The Wapakoneta Redskins upped their record to 4-2 on the season with a 4-1 win over the Lima Senior Spartans in a non-league varsity boys tennis match Thursday in Lima.
Wapak players blanked their opponents in three of the four winning matches.
Redskins senior Nic Oen rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dylan Goodwin in first singles.
In second singles, senior Joey Jose posted a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Bryan Simpson.
The first doubles team of seniors Rex Azbell and Anthony Kennard also pitched a shutout, topping Jose Saavedra and Corey Marchal 6-0, 6-0.
Zach Holtzapple, filling in for Andy Faller at third singles, knocked off Alex Moore 6-0, 6-1.
The only Wapak loss came at second doubles. Lima Senior’s Nate Brederman and Justin Weltmer needed three sets to bump Matt Ewing and Drew Wayman 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Wapak returns to action in a Western Buckeye League match against the Bath Wildcats at 4:30 today at the Rotary Club courts at Wapakoneta High School.
