SWIMMING: Redskins boys fourth at invite

The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys swimming finished fourth, and the girls seventh, at the Wapak/Celina Invitational on Saturday.

Ottawa-Glandorf, Celina and Ada were the top three teams in the 20-team boys meet.

Shawnee, Lima Central Catholic and Celina made up the girls top three out of 14 teams.

The boys grabbed a win and a second-place finish in the freestyle relays.

Nate Hager, Ryan Kremer, Brandon Christler and Ryan Greve won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.02. They teamed up again to take second in the 200 with a time of 1:37.38.

Kremer finished second in the 100 backstroke, completing the distance in 59.05 seconds, just .12 behind the race winner.

In the 200 freestyle, Hager (1:59.83) was fifth. Hayden Metzger (2:15.67) also scored a point with a 13th-place finish.

Christler (24.77) was sixth in the 50 freestyle.

Hager (52.65) grabbed third in the 100 freestyle. Christler (57.37) missed finishing in the points by one-tenth of a second.

Metzger (5:59.17) placed ninth in the 500 freestyle.

Greve (1:13.09) took sixth in the 100 backstroke. Blake Bayliff (1:20.71) scored a point with a 13th-place finish.

For the girls, Taylor Law placed third in the 200 individual medley (2:28.20) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:09.11).

Josie Miller was sixth in 200 IM (2:32.63) and the 100 freestyle (59.17).

Haley Buchanan chipped in two points with a 12-place result in the 100 butterfly (1:20.40).

She joined Miller, Law and Morgan Roediger to grab fifth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:16.04.

Miller, Law, Stephanie Kessen and Taylor Hager were 11th in the 200 medley relay (2:11.38).

The Redskins are back in action at 5:30 tonight at Kenton.
