He is described by employees as a good, honest guy who couldn’t be any nicer or sweeter, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of his local business.
Mike Swaney Buick-GMC is asking the community to join in the celebration of 30 years in town by hosting a first annual family fun run and 5k.
On Aug. 23 the celebration will begin at Mike Swaney Buick-GMC located at 211 E. Auglaize St. The 5k run/walk will start at 9 a.m. and the family fun run will begin at 9:05 a.m.
Evany Fuerst, assistant office manager at Mike Swaney Buick-GMC said she pictures the celebration to be like a carnival.
“It’s going to be all about family,” Fuerst said. “We’re going to have games for the kids, we’re hopefully going to be able to do face painting, and have food and goodies.”
This is not only a celebration, but an event that will go toward a good cause, as all registration fees will be benefiting the Children’s Hometown Holiday in memory of Bob and Terri Dillhoff.
According to office manager Jane Brown, Bob Dillhoff was Swaney’s partner; the Dillhoff’s passed away a couple of years ago within months of each other, both succumbing to the battle of cancer.
“Bob totally believed in caring for kids and making sure at Christmas time that kids had something,” Brown said. “That was just a big thing in his life for him and his wife.”
