Susan Eriksen, 72

June 26, 2012

Susan Jane Eriksen, wife of David Eriksen, daughter of Anne and Clarence Cornell, died suddenly and painlessly of cardiac arrest Thursday evening, June 21, 2012, in her home.
Susan was born Jan. 21, 1940. She grew up in Wapakoneta. Susan attended The Ohio State University where she met David. Together they had four children and resided in Toledo for the last 40 years.
Susan’s life revolved around helping others. She retired from nursing after her second child was born and has been volunteering in Toledo for the last 40 years. She was a member of the Junior League. One of her passions was working for Children as a Court Appointed Child Advocate (CASA). She started out as a volunteer and retired 20 years later. Her compassion touched countless families.
Susan was a gourmet cook. It was a passionate hobby that family and friends enjoyed nearly everyday. She was an avid reader. Book club was one of her many favorite pastimes. She was a gardener with patio flowers second to none. Her family knows of no one who had more friends. She cherished them and they cherished her.
As expected from this wonderful woman, her priority and devotion was as a wife to David; mother to Leif, Kirsten Homberger, Heidi Bleyer and Hans; and Grammy to Mason, Elena, Abigail, Madeleine, Hannah and Nicholas.
A memorial visitation will be at the Coyle Funeral Home 1770  S. Reynolds Road, Toledo, Wednesday 3-7 p.m. Interment will be private.
Memorials may take the form of a contribution to CASA. (c/o Carol Martin, Director cmarti@co.lucas.oh.us 419-213-6787. Please view and sign the “on-line” guest registry at CoyleFuneralHome.com.
