Supplemental contracts approved

The Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education approved the supplemental contracts for two assistant coaches and accepted the retirement of a kindergarten teacher at a regular board meeting Tuesday night at the Gardenia Board Office.

Debra Shenk, a kindergarten teacher at Cridersville Elementary School, will retire at the end of the 2013-14 school year. Her retirement will officially go into effect on June 30.

“Every time we lose somebody it’s hard, but Deb Shenk especially is a powerhouse kind of teacher,” Wapakoneta City Schools Superintendent said. “She taught kindergarten for many, many years and if you’re a kindergarten teacher, you’re special in and of itself.
“We wish her well.”
