Stinebaugh family first

January 6, 2012

A Wapakoneta couple celebrated the New Year in a new way.

Dawn and Tony Stinebaugh celebrated the New Year by having the first baby of the year in the Wapakoneta Daily News readership area.
Addison Jo Ann Stinebaugh was born at 5:42 p.m. Jan. 3, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

The baby is Dawn’s third child and Tony’s first. Addison will spend a little extra time in the hospital for some minor issues and then will go home for the first time where he will get the opportunity to meet her two older brothers, 13-year-old Logan and 9-year-old Mason Ricker. The family lives in the Oakwood Hills subdivision in Wapakoneta.

Both boys said they are excited about the new arrival, although Logan’s excitement is a bit more reserved.

“Mason tried to climb right up in the bed with me,” Dawn Stinebaugh said with a laugh. “Logan was a little more timid. I think he was afraid to hurt her when he held her.”

The baby’s initial due date was Jan. 8. The Stinebaughs were aware that they were having a girl, so they had time to prepare for her arrival and have her nursery ready and waiting at home.

“We will go from G.I. Joes to Barbies and Pink,” the mother said.

Addison’s middle name, Jo Ann, came from Tony’s grandmother, whose first name is Jo Ann. The baby’s grandparents are Roxie and Jim Stinebaugh and Diane and Tom Hendrixson, all of Wapakoneta. The baby was born on Stinebaugh’s parent’s anniversary.

Stinebaugh, who is 41, said he is ready to take on the responsibility of being a father.

“We were shocked when we heard it was the first baby in our area,” Stinebaugh said. “We were obviously thrilled. I am 41 and Dawn is 38, so obviously we didn’t have a huge window. It is the first grandchild for my parents so the little girl will be spoiled.”

Addison weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long.
