Squad plans casino night

St. Johns Volunteer Fire & Rescue will hold its first-annual casino night on Saturday, Feb. 15 as a fundraiser for new equipment.

Volunteer firefighter Brian Schlosser said the department needs to update its Self Contained Breathing Apparatus’ (SBCA’s), as well as some other equipment.

Games that will be available at the event will be Texas Hold ‘Em, Blackjack, Roulette and Silent Poker. There will also be a silent and live auction.

Sandwiches and chips will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

It is open to the public, and tickets will be available at the door. A single person ticket is $7 and a couple is $10.

Schlosser said the event came about after several members of the fire department started discussing a variety of fundraisers. He said they felt this would be worth their while.

The event will be held at the V.F.W. Post #8445, 712 N. Dixie Highway, Wapakoneta, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

The fire department also hosts an annual Breakfast Buffet and Roast Beef Dinner, and has its own food booth at the fairgrounds during the fair.
