Singsation Showdown

Assistant Managing Editor
Show choirs coming from as far away as Indiana, West Virginia and Alabama are taking to the stage of the Wapakoneta Performing Arts Center as part of an annual competition.
Eleven schools plan to attend the event with several bringing multiple groups. Performances are scheduled every half hour beginning at 8:30 a.m. March 23. Wapakoneta’s Singsation, which is hosting the event, is slated to close out the day with a performance at 11:30 p.m., following the six finalists at the end of the night in the Performing Arts Center.
Everyone is invited to attend.
“It is such a phenomenal experience,” said Anita Foor, president of the Wapakoneta Choral Music Society (WCMS) and chair of the event.
Music and More serves as the largest fundraiser for WCMS, with funds used as needed for all of the district’s choral groups, as well as Singsation.
Money raised is used at the director’s discretion for things needed by the choirs throughout the year.
Foor encouraged the public to come out and enjoy a day, a night or both of performances during the event.
“We have so many talented kids in our school,” Foor said, explaining that Music and More brings that same kind of talent together from a variety of other schools as well.

coming from area districts, such as Ada and Kenton.
Wapakoneta cannot compete because they are hosting the competition, but Singsation members and their parents put in an almost 24-hour day helping prepare for the event, greeting choirs from other schools when they arrive, and cleaning up after their late night performance.
