Shipping jobs likely a scam

The Wapakoneta Police Department is warning residents of a scam involving a job search looking for people to  “work from home” receiving illegal goods and shipping packages overseas.

Detective Patrick Green said one local incident has been reported where someone was approached via email and coerced into shipping an illegal item to Russia.

“They’ve been called like logistics clerks, re-shippers — where they agree to receive packages at their house, and from there they are supposed to take the packages, they’re given a label off the internet and they’re supposed to ship those packages overseas to different countries,” Green said.
