The Wapakoneta Sertoma Club gave the honorary first ticket to its upcoming chili day to Mayor Rodney Metz on Tuesday afternoon.

Sertoma, which stands for “SERvice TO MAnkind,” is a local organization that serves members of the community.

The 39th annual chili day will be held  from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Wapakoneta Knights of Columbus Hall.

Brian Schlosser, Sertoma member and owner of Schlosser Funeral Home & Crematory Services, said proceeds from the event will go toward helping people with speech and hearing issues. The money is set aside, and throughout the year, Sertoma will help out those who are looking for assistance.

Tickets are $7 and include all-you-can-eat chili, a hot dog, drink and dessert. The event is open to the community.
