Sandra Kay â€śSandyâ€ť Shelley, 67, of Wapakoneta, died at 6:43 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born April 7, 1944, in Lima, the daughter of Elizabeth J. (VanScoder) and Thomas J. Pickering, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 1, 1966, she married Ralph Lee Shelley, and he died Jan. 17, 1996.
Survivors are a son, Daniel Thomas (Helen) Shelley, of Wapakoneta; a step-daughter, Kim (Michael) Crates, of Lima, a granddaughter, Adriann Renee (Matthew) Peters; two great-grandchildren, Rileigh Elizabeth and Peyton Grace; six step-grandchildren, Zachary Lee Nicoll, Amber Lynn Nicoll, Kristopher (Nakoa) Crates, Adam Crates, David (Stephanie) Crates, Amanda Crates; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Ann (Darrell) Redmond, of Elida.
A homemaker, Sandy was retired. She was a 1962 graduate of Lima Senior High School. Sandy had a passion for art, painting and drawing. She loved being with her family and playing with her grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Steven Nelson officiating.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
