For safe travel: don't drink and drive

November 26, 2013

In anticipation of increased traffic during the Thanksgiving holiday, troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) are reminding motorists not to compound the problem by drinking and driving.
“With Black Friday shoppers and people starting their holiday travels, Thanksgiving weekend is a very busy time traffic wise,” OSHP Wapakoneta Post Commander Lt. Scott Carrico said. “We keep our fingers crossed that the weather cooperates and doesn’t complicate the busy traffic.”
Federal overtime hours are used locally to provide additional units to work and focus on high crash areas and impaired driver enforcement, Carrico expaining.
Last year, troopers with the Wapakoneta Post made contact with 390 motor vehicles during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
